I've noticed this for a while now, but don't know if it is normal behavior. Compared to a car with a cable-operated throttle, when I accelerate hard in a gear, but then let off the gas, the RPMs are fairly slow to drop. I don't know if that's due to the electronic throttle, a very heavy.
Joined Feb 20, 2008. 7,979 Posts. #3 · May 2, 2011. Most likely you are dealing with the slow and laggy electronic throttle. Edelbrock makes a faster TB unit that opens quicker. It also may need a software update to allow the throttle to open quicker.

Simple; once the bike is warm, with the clutch pulled in throttle cracked open, I let the throttle snap close and the rpm goes up about 500 BEFORE it drops down (happens a virtually any rpm or speed or gear). No EFI, codes or sticking throttle, butterflys or anything. Throttle is snapping shut just like normal. The idle is 100% normal. I have a manual trans GT with 70k on it. Ever since I bought the car with 60k, the engine revs have dropped very slowly when gas pedal has been let go. I mean, sometimes I will come to a stop before the engine has finished revving down. My alternator just went, so I cleaned the throttle body up.
